Fringe Day 1 Addendum: Caberlesque (5/5)
Aug 20th, 2007 by Edward Pollard
As I’m finding that most fringe plays don’t have online presences, I’m omitting credits and links from future reviews.
Somehow I drank enough to omit this from my first post. What a shame, as it was the best thing we saw that day.
Caberlesque is a blend of burlesque and cabaret, a sexually infused comedic romp that starts in nineteen thirties Germany and ends…oh, shit, well it ended somewhere else but I really don’t remember, but for the love of god was the ride a good one and really, has there ever been a better fringe show to be in a BYOV that serves alcohol in the history of forever? The show is frantic, absolutely sexy as hell, and features some absolutely phenomenal singing to accompany the abundance of skin. The audience was filled with husbands taking wives hands, lovers touching each others knee, and really I wouldn’t be surprised if everyone had to take a quick trip home after the show as the energy of the performance was perfectly captivating.
This one can most definitely not be missed. Arguably the narrative didn’t make a ton of sense but really nobody cared. 5/5
