PAX Wrapup
Aug 27th, 2007 by Edward Pollard
You know you are at an interesting dinner when one of the guests begins an anecdote with “When I launched Final Fantasy VII…”
I think on strictest technicality what followed at Ruth’s Chris that night - in the basement, in the private room - is unbloggable. I considered myself to be very lucky to land in the correct proximity of people to watch Porkfry debate the PS3 with a Sony exec, Porkfry laud the merits of different songs and if they belong in Guitar Hero or if they belong in Rock Band, and, well, Porkfry being Porkfry. He even offered to show me his pokemans.
Penny Arcade Expo is a place where I find I end up pulling back the layers of my gamer persona and am forced to look inward as to what it is I like about games and gamers. It always leaves me shaken, as it can be quite existential - inward looking tends to do that. But it also creates a feeling of rejuvenation, renewal, and a reawareness as to what I want and what I’m actually looking for. I can’t really distill that down into a cohesive point at this moment in time, but hopefully I can do that more in the near future.
PAX is dead. Long live PAX.
