Snow Mould In the Wild
Apr 26th, 2008 by Edward Pollard
Today, en route to the local off-leash park, I encountered at long last visible evidence of my new nemesis: snow mold. With our excessive snow falls and frequent melts apparently the conditions are ripe for a lawn condition I’d never ever heard…of…er…wait a minute…

Excuse me.
This is indeed the big side effect of snow mold: ridiculous allergies. I’ve never had seasonal allergies at this time of year and for a while considered it a worrisome mystery. A trip to the doctor validated something that had popped up in the local media, and that is that we are…er…one sec….

Uh..anyway…it would seem that Edmonton is just overflowing with snow mold this year. So I was slightly pleased to come face to face with this allergen inducing menace today. It’s really kind of gross and creepy, actually, looking very similar to mold on bread but crawling over the lawn. If my camera wasn’t in Montreal with my wife I’d provide my own picture but it is so I’m not and instead I leave you with this courtesy of Google Image Search.

I got to all of the stuff on my lawn before the last snow, hopefully it all died off and I don’t have to deal with it again. It certainly is nasty this year.
You truly live in the land of Oz sir.
Huh. Never heard of snow mold before. The more you know!
And you didn’t believe me when I told you about it…..
