I recently took the time to finish Bioshock. Being adorably similar to one of my favorite games ever - System Shock 2 - I was really eager to see how they finished off the plot which at least at some points appeared quite nuanced. It ended up being a bit disappointing, but we’ll save the […]

There is a “Let’s Play!” of System Shock 2 currently going on over at the PA forums. What is a “Let’s Play!”? It is a semi-satirical documentary of a play through a classic game. Its hilarious if you’ve played the game before, and somewhat insighftul if you missed playing one of the most instrumental FPS […]

While I’d really love to be playing a lot more Bioshock I am finding myself entirely unable to find the time. Between work and family commitments I’m barely getting 5 hours of sleep a night. While chaotic and productive, its a bit of a drag - but it all makes me especially glad for the […]

I’ve recently crammed through the entire Metal Gear Solid series and am working on an editorial. In the mean time, I found this amusing and descriptive.

I remember from PAX05 that, for the most part, Sunday is pretty lazy and my expectations have been fulfilled. The most exciting thing going on is trying to arrange getting my gear from the Sheraton to the Days Inn while participating in an all-day Starcraft board game tournament.
This means I may miss the final of […]

PAX continues unabated. I was up until 5:00 AM with tthe night topped off by a trip to the nearest diner - the Hurricane Cafe - which was a good seven blocks from the Sheraton and the conference center. The thing with urban centers is that they are particularily lousy at facilitating living in the […]

While in line this morning I wrote as follows…
2 hours in line and things are starting to move - finally. Already you can smell BO, and I’m surrounded by two distinct types of PAX-goers: people who are chatting loudly with their own brought-to-PAX group, or those that have been quietly immersed in their own DS […]

The smell of geekery is in the air. Penny Arcade Expo, the annual pilgrimage of gamers and misfits is this weekend, and I’m sitting in my Sheraton hotel room and couting down the 4 hours until the doors open. Yesterday we drove 14 hours across the Canadian Rockies from Edmonton, Alberta - spirits high, […]
